Populism in 2021 and Beyond

An online lecture for Cambridge Third Age Learning, 2021.04.08

Populism has waxed and waned throughout the 20th century. But in recent years, even in recent months, it has rattled the United States, Europe and the United Kingdom, India, and other democracies. What accounts for the appeal of populist rhetoric and ideas in our contemporary era? Does populism pose a threat to democratic institutions? This lecture will investigate these questions and address what the future might hold for populism.
