Most of my teaching is in German cultural studies, but what I've learnt there about utilizing digital tools and applications applies equally well to DaF teaching and learning. A key takeaway for me has been the realization that we need to take a step back and strategize about what we want to accomplish digitally before we plunge into the ocean of tech tools and applications available to us. Doing so allows us to control the tech and prevent the tech from controlling us. In this workshop, we'll discuss the importance of understanding our teaching context as a basis for selecting digital tools, and then we'll explore some tools to gauge their usefulness in a variety of contexts.
